DesignBlok 2024 will bring Bastion Florenc to life
The next edition of DesignBlok, Central Europe's largest showcase of modern design and fashion, is approaching, and this time we will be at the centre of the action.
"In our projects we involve not only architects and planners, but also designers, creators of interiors, furniture, lighting and other elements. We are launching public competitions for artworks that will further enhance the buildings we have built and the public spaces around them. We see Designblok as an opportunity to join forces with other talented creators," says Miloš Kocián, Senior Leasing Manager at Penta Real Estate.
So it was natural to support the traditionally great event, Design Blok 2024, and provide it with space and facilities in the Bastion building in Prague’s Florence neighbourhood.
This will create an important base for this year's festival in Florence, as DesignBlok will also take place in the neighbouring building of the The Prague City Museum.
Bastion Florenc will be partly transformed into an exhibition of designers, design studios and schools. New Czech and international design innovations will be presented using a backdrop of contemporary architecture, a laboratory of contemporary design, in which product designers, fashion designers, jewellery designers, illustrators and graphic designers mix. These are primarily exhibitions of prototypes and small batch production without the involvement of a commercial manufacturer. A showcase of Central European schools and universities will also be presented in the exhibition house under the title School Today.
The adjacent museum building will open at DesignBlock for the first time after a complete reconstruction, and a so-called Superstudio will be set up for visitors – with novelties from Czech and international producers that have emerged from collaboration with leading designers. Working with designers is a basic criterion for selecting exhibitors, alongside quality and fair production.
In addition to the buildings in Florence, the festival will also take place at Prague Castle, the Museum of Decorative Arts and dozens of galleries, shops and showrooms throughout the city centre.
Each year, DesignBlok is visited by more than 40,000 visitors – designers, curators, buyers, architects, interior designers, journalists and others interested in design.
