Masaryčka scores with great interiors and working environment
The Masaryčka office building was already known to many for its unique Zaha Hadid design and golden cladding, but now it has also won awards for its unique interior design. Two categories of this year’s Office of the Year competition were dominated by companies that chose this building as their new headquarters.
The best “employee-friendly” offices: The offices that offer the most “employee-friendly” atmosphere for employees, with plenty of nooks and crannies where one can feel as comfortable as in one’s own living room, are the new ones at BCG (Boston Consulting Group). The look of the interiors is a collaborative effort of Penta Real Estate’s inhouse architects, designers and builders. This successful result has already attracted attention beyond the borders of the Czech Republic.
“Penta Real Estate’s in-house team of architects has once again demonstrated its undisputed qualities, architectural sensitivity, and design expertise, which make it one of the top developers and able to be on par with external architectural studios,” says Tomáš Popadič, Design Development Manager at Penta Real Estate.
“From a construction perspective, the challenge was to create an opening for a spacious staircase between the two floors, which largely determined the character of the entire office, before its detailed layout. It required perfect collaboration with the client, technical precision and quick decision-making,” says Martin Schindler, Construction Manager at Penta Real Estate.
The best “start-up” offices: Technology company Second Foundation, with offices in Prague and Houston, Texas, can now attract new employees to the best “start-up offices”. Their superb interiors were designed by Jiří Bíza architects, again with the necessary support of Penta Real Estate builders.
“In the interior design, we have made extensive use of bookshelves and also of the large amount of greenery, which together create a sensually pleasant space and corner for undisturbed work,” says architect Jiří Bíza.
“The interiors for Second Foundation incorporate a unique range of acoustic ceiling elements (baffles). It was challenging to implement a complex architectural design, which was determined by the nature of the tenant’s business and their desire to attract the best employees,” adds Martin Schindler of Penta Real Estate, who also managed the construction work in this case.
For eight years now, the Office of the Year competition has annually recognised companies that invest in their office space and actively strive to create an attractive, functional and pleasant working environment for their employees. It also indirectly promotes the winning companies as attractive employers.
